ALL LIGHT, EVERYWHERE
Theo Anthony

cwyzYuYg.png

 USA // 2021 // 105 min // VOSE

The new feature length by Theo Anthony. A unique reflection on the human gaze, based on material from police cameras, video surveillance, and his own work tool (his eyes, his camera). An incomparable study of the act of looking, a terrifying approach of connections between disparate subjects and ideas, which brings us closer to the limits of the filmic device, and even our interpretation in the face of reality. Who is watching whom?

Spain // 2021 // 76 min

Eva is discharged after six years in a psychiatric hospital. It is the first step towards the normal life that she longs for but, above all, Eva has a dream: to meet her son again and ask him for forgiveness, after fifteen years of silence.

Tremendous redemption film, with one of those stories that make documentary cinema tremble and capture the heart of those who see it.

TAMING THE GARDEN
Salome jashi

maxresdefault.jpeg

Georgia // 2021 // 92 min

A powerful man, former Prime Minister of Georgia, has developed an exquisite hobby. He collects ancient trees along the coast of his country. He instructs his men to pluck them up and take them to his private garden. Some of these ancient trees are up to 15 stories tall. Cutting other trees, moving electrical cables, and paving new paths through orchards.
In short, the madness of power.

Powerful documentary focused on the complex collision between humans and the marine world. Drawn on a murky but fascinating journey in the Anthropocene era, seen from both points of view.

FRIENDS & STRANGERS
James vaughn

friendsandstrangers-IFFR-4.jpeg

 New Zealand // 2021 // 84 min // VOSE

A twenty-something Australian couple, Ray and Alice, have almost everything in life. And maybe that's the problem. It seems that no aspect of your day to day is intense. With all your ambitions buried, the only thing left is the indefinite remains of something. And that something is a film that recalls the most uncomfortable and comical Eric Rohmer.

GUNDA
Victor kossakovsky

GUNDA_STILL-DESTACAT2-1619166377.jpeg

Norway // 2020 // 93 min // VOSE

Gunda is the protagonist of this beautiful black and white film. She takes care of her children, accompanies them in their discoveries and takes a little breath to regain her energy. She approaches the camera curiously.
Do you know what your destination will be? What is he thinking? What will he think of us? Gunda is one of the hundreds of millions of pigs that inhabit the planet together with her piglets. They are playing in the mud, chasing the flies or looking for worms. They live.

The Cormorant is one of the few birds capable of diving underwater, diving for food, and surfacing, flying again. That is why the Cormorant Film Fest chooses this animal as a symbol of a cinema that searches the depths of the human condition, that immerses itself in our social and emotional ins and outs, to create an honest and strong work, without masks or impositions that hold back the point of view of the author and his team.

This small festival in A Coruña is nothing more than an attempt to justify the transgression and positive criticism in the seventh art, the power that cinema has always had to raise awareness and excite.

As Parquet Courts proposes in his recent album  Wide Awake , we live in a turbulent time, faced with an uncertain future and very crude at first glance. Therefore, more than complaining, the Cormorant proposes to seek solutions and raise awareness.

Because cinema is sensitivity, and with it, nations can move.
