The cormorant is one of the few bird species that is able to dive underwater in search of food, come back up to the surface, and fly again. That is why Cormorán Film Fest chooses this animal as a symbol of a certain type of cinema, one that reaches down in the depths of human condition, submerges in our social and emotional ins and outs, creating honest and strong films, without masks or fake impositions that limit the author and his team's point of view.
This small festival is no more than an attempt on encouraging the transgression and positive criticism on the seventh art, the power that cinema has always had to raise awareness and thrill.
Just as Parquet Courts suggest in their last album, Wide awake, we are living in confusing times, facing an uncertain future and at a first sight, a pretty rough one too. That is why, rather than just complaining about it, Cormorán proposes a search for solutions and the creation of awareness.
Because cinema is feeling, and with that, you can move nations.
